What is Camp Bluebird?
Camp Bluebird originated in 1985 in Birmingham, Alabama as a retreat for adult cancer survivors. Since then, franchises were sold, using the Camp Bluebird name, and over 36 cancer retreats were started in various parts of the country. Our local Camp Bluebird of Western North Carolina began in 1993 when an oncology nurse from Mission Hospital and a representative from Bellsouth (our local telephone company at the time) traveled to Birmingham to buy a Camp Bluebird franchise…
